Autoimmune disease

What is an autoimmune disease?

Our bodies have a natural defence system called the immune system. The immune system protects us from disease and infection, for example by fighting bacteria or viruses that enter the body. Some people, however, are affected by autoimmune diseases: when the immune system can’t tell the difference between its own cells and foreign cells such as bacteria or viruses. As a result, the body mistakenly attacks its own normal cells causing inflammation and dysregulation in that area of the body.1

Uzpruvo has been been approved for the treatment of three different autoimmune diseases:2

Uzpruvo is currently not approved for the Ulcerative Colitis indication (since the originator still has exclusivity for this indication).
